94% of Kazakhstani complain on the spam

ESET Company represents the results of poll of Kazakhstan citizens.

Intrusive unsolicited spam annoys the majority of Kazakhstan citizens – about 94%. This information was performed by ESET Company during the joint poll with the Kazakhstani web portal Nur.kz.

The participants of the project were invited to choose one of the options to the question «Which type of spam annoy you the most.

The majority of Kazakhstani complained on the spam within emails – unsolicited e-mail bother 41% of respondents. On the second place of rating is SMS-spam – 28% of polled admitted that their mobile phones are flooded by advertisement distributions. Spam within social media bothers 20% of participants, and about 5% informs that they have been annoyed by the spam commentators within forums and blogs as well as Internet messengers (Skype, ICQ etc).

4% fortunate souls do not receive spam at all, and 2% of respondents, not without irony, acknowledged their love to spam which according to them is never annoying.

«Spam steals time but main challenge here lies on fraudulent activities perpetrated via it. – comments Aleksey Oskin, the Header of the Department of Technical and Marketing Support of Products of ESET Russia. – Spam distributions within email, SMS, social media or messengers might serve as a decoy of fraudsters-phishers who collect personal data of users to own enrichment, or might contain malicious links and applications».

In order to block the spam the ESET experts recommend to install the complex antivirus solution with «Antispam» feature which performs check of emails and filtration of unsolicited e-mails. The same feature within mobile antivirus allows blocking of ingoing and outgoing calls, unsolicited SMS and MMS messages.

The poll was executed within the portal Nur.kz as well as ESET NOD32 groups within social media. The number of respondents is more than 2500.
